SLC is a great city for biking. First, it’s mostly flat, which is nice for us Chicagoans. It also has clearly marked bike lanes, wide roads mysteriously devoid of much traffic, gorgeous scenery and nice weather. I bunked with Kristi from Riyoko Urban Bikewear in an, er, economical hotel (don’t ask) about 6 miles away from the convention center, which means we were able to bookend each day with a pleasant 30 minute ride to and fro, with lots of sight seeing and socializing thrown in.
One of the highlights of the week was joining the Green Guru Cruiser Ride. Kristi and I had a total blast riding around with a bunch of whacky people and funky bikes. Made me want to move to Denver just to do these rides more often!
We’re planning on going back to Salt Lake City for the winter show at the end of January. I’m hoping that it will be snowy enough to warrant heading back to Saturday Cycles to borrow this bad boy from Surly:
Has anybody else ridden this bike? I can’t wait to give it a spin.
