Good Commuting backpack
I purchased this for commuting to work as I was tired of wearing my backpack all the time. So far I really like it. I do find the magnets a little fiddly to use but they work well. It would be great if there could be an integrated laptop sleeve and a key leash.
Works so far
I’ve had my Mardy Backpack Pannier for several weeks now. I use it on my short bike ride to work. I got it to have a backpack that I could easily take on and off my bike, in case my route to work included a bus trip in the future. The straps are reasonably easy to attach and clip securely into place. It won’t hold very heavy loads (the stated capacity is 25 lbs and the top of the straps where they are sewn into the bag would be the likely point of failure) but it will handle a laptop, notebook, papers and jacket easily enough. The bag has both shoulder straps and handles allowing you to use it as either a tote bag or a backpack. The shape is a bit odd - it’s wider than it is tall (similar to a tote bag). I didn’t realize this before I bought it. However, the bag is comfortable to use as a backpack so far. I haven’t used it for long enough to be able to say how durable it is over time.
Good for running errands on bike!
I'm relatively new to biking, and got Mardy to use for errand runs. I'm honestly impressed with how much I was able to squeeze in there. I took it on my first grocery run this morning, stuffed the bag to the brim, and the magnetic straps held everything in place during my bumpy/pot-holey ride home. Figuring out how to open/closed the magnetic buckles was a little tricky, but I'm really happy with it so far!
Perfect for versatile, high capacity needs
Easy to attach and detach from rear rack. Stays secure on my relatively calm school/work commute. It hasn't rained since I got it but I can tell it will be perfectly fine in Seattle weather -- bag is durable material and there's a supplemental rain cover. I can go on and on about all the great things about this pannier!
Perfect for a commute
Impressed with how sturdy and well-designed this is! Still learning all the features but so far there seems to be a pocket for everything.
