About World Bicycle Relief

World Bicycle Relief is mobilizing people through the Power of Bicycles. They envision a world where distance is no longer a barrier to education, healthcare and economic opportunity. Their many bicycle related programs funds new bikes into programs for rural African communities, giving them access to healthcare, education, and economic opportunities.

Why we're partnering with World Bicycle Relief

Po Campo has been partnering with World Bicycle Relief since May 2013. So far we're donated 75 bikes to their Bicycles for Educational Empowerment Program, specifically to provide bikes for female students in rural Africa.

Why do we want African girls to stay in school? Because educated girls:
// Are much less likely to become child brides, making them less likely to contract HIV during childbirth and be sexually assaulted.
// End up making more money, giving her independence and the to participate in the labor force to shape the growth of her community.
// Learn how to break the cycle of poverty that has crippled her region for decades.

Why do we want them to have a bicycle? Because:
// Most girls live many miles from the nearest school and, if they walk, they can't squeeze in both school and chores in their day. But, with a bike, they can do both.
// Riding a bicycle is fun and gives one a wonderful sense of independence. We love that feeling and want to share it.

About Po Campo

Po Campo makes bags that fit your life. Founder Maria Boustead started the company when she was looking for a bag functional enough to attach to her bike while riding through Chicago and stylish enough to use as her normal bag off the bike. When she couldn't find any bag with that versatility, she decided to make it herself.

Constructed of weatherproof, vegan fabrics and featuring practical details like reflective accents and intuitively placed pockets, Po Campo bags are built for experiencing the joys of life.
